OBSERVATION of the DRIVER:
- Pre-Trip the Vehicle- detailed check list, a through pre-trip of the vehicle prior to exiting the property may eliminate the opportunity of a vehicle breakdown which would cause down time, loss of production, displeased customers, cost of towing, more intensive and costly repairs, mechanic wages and higher payroll.
- Observe drivers defensive driving skills, safe working habits, abuse of equipment, idle time, customer/public relations, document for follow-up. All to be signed and kept in employee’s file.
- Observation, explanation, commentary, drill.
- Demonstrate if needed, increase employee awareness.
- Post-trip- detailed check list of items to check at the end of the day of the vehicle, CCR, DVIR, write-up repairs needed this eliminates delays and breakdowns the next day.
